Bio
Mike Smith, vice president, joined Heartland Bank’s commercial lending team in 2020. He has over 35 years of experience in the financial services industry and works closely with business owners in the Illinois Valley area by listening to and assessing their commercial lending needs. Mike sees commercial lending as more than just numbers and transactions; to Mike, it's about helping businesses achieve their goals and dreams.
Michael earned his bachelor's degree in business, minoring in finance and economics, from Saint Ambrose University in May 1982. While attending college, he was involved on campus with student groups, active in church groups and functions, and volunteered with local charities. Since then, he has served on many local boards and committees.
Michael currently resides in Princeton with his wife, Doris, where they raised their three children, Michael, Matthew and Megan. Michael enjoys spending time with his grandkids, family and friends.
